This is the dramatic moment a truck delivering hens overturned on a slippery road in Thailand.

CCTV footage shows the vehicle turning a curve on the Yontrakan Kamtorn Road in Songkhla province on November 1.

However, the truck lost control on the rain-slicked surface and flipped onto its side, spilling dozens of crates containing the livestock onto the wet tarmac.

Authorities said several chickens had died at the scene, while others escaped from the wreckage.

The truck driver was reported to be unharmed.

The accident caused traffic chaos as officials cleared the road.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
