This is the terrifying moment a giant 'tsunami' wiped out tourists in a pool at Shuiyun Water Park after the wave machine malfunctioned in northern China.

The video, filmed in Longjing city in Jilin province on July 29, shows a large wave produced by the wave machine sweeping away the swimmers in a 'tsunami pool'.

Tourists can be heard screaming and several swimmers were dumped onto the land.

According to reports, the incident was caused by the mechanical fault and the 'tsunami pool' has been shut down for inspection.

The filmer is a local resident travelling to the water park with his family. He happened to capture the incident when he was about to record some happy moment.

44 people were injured and the case is in further investigation.
