At least four people were injured after a gas tank exploded at an oil plant in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The incident took place on Sept. 12 at the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation plant at Dahi Chowki area in Unnao district.

Visuals and images showed firefighters trying to douse the fire.

Large hoses were used to extinguish the blaze.

The injured have been identified as the employees of the oil plant unit.

Traffic was halted in the surrounding areas of the plant. Villages and factories located within three miles of the plant have been put on high alert.

All approach roads to the plant have been closed for vehicles except for the fire tenders.

Preliminary reports indicated that a leakage led the blast.

Meanwhile, efforts are on to plug the leak.
