Indonesia President Joko Widodo visits the location of a wildfire to observe the progress firefighters are making.

Filmed on September 17, Widodo is seen pacing up and down observing the firefighters efforts to put out the remaining embers.

The number of blazes in Indonesia's rainforests has increased sharply, spreading smog across southeast Asia and adding to concerns about the impact of increasing wildfire outbreaks worldwide on global warming.

Indonesia President Joko Widodo visited one of the wildfire location in Pelalawan Regency of Riau Province on Tuesday afternoon. He witness the fire fighting task force effort to extinguish the fire and the smoke that is coming from the rest of the burning land.

Riau become one of the worst area where thousands of hectares of land is on fire due to agriculture and plantation activities. The same situation also occur in the island of Borneo where most of the tropical forest of the island is burned.

The number of blazes in Indonesia's rainforests has jumped sharply, spreading smog across Southeast Asia and adding to concerns about the impact of increasing wildfire outbreaks worldwide on global warming. Illegal blazes to clear land for agricultural plantations have been raging on Sumatra and Kalimantan islands, with Indonesia deploying water-bombing helicopters and thousands of security forces to tackle them.

It is just the latest such outbreak worldwide -- huge blazes have torn through the Amazon in South America while bushfires are sweeping across eastern Australia in an unusually ferocious and early start to the wildfire season.
