LATHMAR HOLI: Hundreds of women gather with sticks to beat up men hiding under cushion in Northern India
The festival of colors witnessed hundreds of women with sticks, while men dance and celebrated Holi with colors in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place in Mathura on March 4.
The video shows, the women using sticks to beat man holding a cushion (Lathmar Holi) and men celebrating Holi with colors and others are seen making cannabis paste for the drink known as Bhang.
According to the reports, the festival is known for its vibrant colors and welcoming the arrival of spring after winter.
The tradition dates back to Lord Krishna’s times when he had gone to meet a friend called Radha in her village, playfully teased her friends.
Taking revenge on the same women took sticks to chase him away.This tradition is called Lathmar Holi and celebrated in towns of Barsana and Nandgaon near Mathura.
