Al Quds is commonly described as “Demonstrations against Zionism, the government of Israel and its occupation of Jerusalem; solidarity with the Palestinian people”.

The British government ruled the Al Quds day demonstrations to be illegal in 2019 after years of significant pressure from the public. Al Quds day was criticised for openly displaying flags of known terrorist groups such as Hezbollah and also giving a platform to radical Islamist speakers.

June 6, 2018, was the last legally held Al Quds day in the UK which took place outside the embassy of Saudi Arabia in Mayfair, London.
