American soprano Courtney Mills sings from an apartment balcony in Rome, delighting neighbours, on Wednesday (March 23) during Italy's lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rome, on Wednesday, March 25th of 2020 - Wagnerian, beaming, powerful and outrageous, the American soprano has once again distinguished herself… from the balcony of roman apartment.
The boldness, humor and eccentricity of Courtney Mills, have taken over and with rapturous applauses - not those of the spectators of the Bari Opera, teatro Unione di Veterbo where she was supposed to perform for the role of Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana , but of the residents of Rome. On one night everyone went onto their balconies to sing the national anthem, after the request of neighbors she sang an encore.
Winner of the Salvatore Licitra Awards in 2017 and the Beppe Tomaso in Reggio Calabria in 2018, she began her career at just 23 years old, on the prestigious New-York stages of the Metropolitan Opera and of the Carnegie Hall. Tosca, Brünnhilde , Santuzza or Turandot, the diva has a thousand faces. She has been resident of the Eternal City for 5 years, she has established herself throughout Italy; From Bari to Sicily, from Florence to Sardegna. She recently enterpreted the roles of Cio-Cio-San in Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly” (In March 2019), then Brünnhilde in Wagner’s “La Walkyrie” (in April 2019) at Bari’s Petruzzelli Theater in the matinee performances. She is looking forward for her role debut as Turandot in Puccini’s Turandot in December.
