Global Online Coronavirus Lockdown “Braai”/Barbeque on 18 April 2020
The global online lockdown braai/barbeque day was attended by people from more than 70 countries and more then 2000 people.
South Africa was the country with the most attendees (900+ people), second was England (470+ people) and third Australia (180+ people). South Africans love to “braai”/barbeque and a couple from South Africa organized and promoted this event on Facebook and it was attended by many people from various different countries. Nice event to get together over the internet when keeping social distancing during lockdowns in many countries across the world.
“The word braaivleis is Afrikaans for “roasted meat.” The word braai (pronounced “bry”, rhyming with the word “cry”; plural braais) is Afrikaans for “barbecue” or “roast” and is a social custom in South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Here is to many more Global Online Braai/Barbeque days even after the lockdowns have been lifted!
