Thai drivers were shocked when they saw this truck with a huge Nazi swastika painted on the back.

The offensive 18-wheel lorry used for carrying construction materials was travelling through residential streets in Bangkok, central Thailand, on May 10.

A shocked motorbike rider noticed the military symbol, used by the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, or Nazi Party, in Germany from 1933 to 1945.

They said: ''I was perplexed about the truck having such a large Nazi symbol painted on its back. The driver should know about the cruel history of the symbol. It's not something that should be used for decoration or for fun.''

The Southeast Asian country is notorious for its use of Nazi imagery. In September 2018, a Thai love motel sparked outrage with a bizarre Nazi-themed room decorated with murals of Adolf Hitler and swastikas while playing adult movies. The building was exposed by ViralPress, leading to diplomatic pressure from the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok, causing the hotel was closed to be repainted.

In January 2019, a member of Thailand’s most popular all-girl band, BNK48, wore a shirt portraying Nazi Germany’s state flag with a swastika emblazoned across it during a televised rehearsal, drawing “shock and dismay” from the Israeli embassy.

While in December last year, Mastercard was forced to slam two men who posed in front of its Christmas display in Bangkok wearing Nazi military uniforms.

Speaking about the truck with the Nazi symbol, Rabbi Abraham Cooper from the Simon Wiesenthal Centre in California said: ''Sadly, these instances show that Thailand has a long way to go before it understands the full scale of the atrocities committed by the Nazis.

''One thought for all Thai people to reflect on is that the Nazi racist ideology detested all people of colour as do today’s Nazis.''
