A rare yellow-coloured turtle has been rescued by a wildlife biologist in Balasore, southeastern India.

Rakesh Kumar Mohalik filmed the rare reptile which skin and shell have a unique yellow tinge.

Balasore wildlife warden Prakash Maradaraj said: "Yes really it is very rare species because of Albinism is a congenital disorder, characterised by the complete or partial absence of pigment-I in the skin, hair and eyes due to absence or defect of tyrosine, a copper-containing enzyme involved in the production of melanin in the body."

This footage was filmed on July 20.

Very rare turtle has been rescued from Sujanpur village in Sajanpur panchayat of Soar block of Balasore district. Basudev Mohapatra of the village rescued the turtle while working on his bill. Mr. Mohapatra saw the turtle near his head while plowing the bill. He was immediately rescued and kept at home. The villagers flocked to see the tortoise. It is learned that Basudev will hand over the turtle to the forest department today on 20th July 2020.


In the midst of pandemic covid -19 the wildlife biologist from Eastern India Mr. Rakesh Kumar Mohalik documented a very very rare kind of species from Balasore wildlife division, Odisha, India. According to Balasore wildlife warden Prakash Mardaraj, Albinism is a congenital disorder, characterised by the complete or partial absence of pigment-I in the skin, hair and eyes due to absence or defect of tyrosine, a copper-containing enzyme involved in the production of melanin in body.
