This is the terrifying moment three wild elephants raided a house rummaging for food in the night.

The jumbos smashed through a fence and rampaged towards the kitchen of the home in Chonburi, eastern Thailand on October 28.

Eight-months pregnant Nittaya Kobngern 27, was in bed with her husband when she heard their pet dogs barking.

The couple worried that there could be an intruder so they peeked through the window to see what was going on - and were shocked to see the hungry jumbos had smashed through their front gate.

The animals were seen using their long trunks to probe baskets, clothesline, and a swing bench at the porch area of the home.

Nittaya said she was scared that the animals would become violent because they couldn't find food so she told her husband to call for help.

She said: "It was so frightening because the elephants were quite big. They were aggressive and I was afraid that they would harm my family."

The husband, Warayut Rattanatirapan called the nearby national park for help and sent 20 staff later to evacuate the wild animals from their home.

The park staff herded the animals back into the jungle before inspecting the property for damage.

However, only the front gate was found damaged. No one was also injured from the incident.

Nittaya added: ''I'm scared they will come back.''

An estimated 2,000 elephants are living in the wild in Thailand and a similar number in captivity. In the wild, they roam through the deep jungle and in the country's protected national parks.

However, there is conflict when they come in contact with humans who also use the area of farming and gathering food.

Elephants are a protected animal in Thailand and killing them carries a maximum prison term of up to three years and a fine of 1,000 baht (25GBP).
