Police were attacked and arrests made as officers dispersed crowds in London's Soho on Wednesday night (November 4), before England went into lockdown.

Drinkers had gathered in the Soho area to enjoy the last night of the area's bars and restaurants being open.

But when police attempted to disperse crowds left on the streets after the bars closed at 10pm, they were attacked by some drinkers.

On Thursday (November 5) England goes back into full lockdown, in an attempt to control the coronavirus outbreak.

Arrests were made and police were attacked in London's Soho as officers attempted to disperse revellers enjoying the 'last night of freedom' on Wednesday night (November 4) before the start of England's second lockdown.

One man continued drinking as he was arrested by the police. Onlookers chanted "leave him alone" as he was led away by officers. The crowd then chanted "f*** Boris [Johnson]".

Police faced further trouble as they continued to tell crowds to go home with glass bottles being smashed.

England's second lockdown begins at midnight.
