Indians living in Thailand celebrate Diwali with colourful events
Indian residents living in Thailand joined in with Diwali celebrations today (November 14).
Hundreds of Hindu devotees joined a festival at the IconSiam shopping mall in the capital Bangkok.
Organisers said the event was the first time that Diwali had been celebrated at the outlet, which is one of the largest and most upmarket in Southeast Asia.
It included stands with Indian food, jewellery and clothes. There were also performances from dancers.
Diwali is the Indian festival of lights and usually lasts for five days during the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika.
Devotees mark the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance".
