Furious wife arrested for 'cutting off cheating husband's penis'
A furious wife was arrested for allegedly cutting off her unfaithful husband's penis.
Suspicious partner Hanifah, 33, waited for her spouse Nugraha, 35, to fall asleep before rifling through his phone messages at their home in West Jakarta, Indonesia.
Her fears are said to have been confirmed when she found flirty exchanges and explicit pictures being exchanged with several other women.
Upon finding his text messages to other girls, the vengeful woman reportedly slashed Nugraha's genitals with a box cutter knife from the kitchen drawer. He woke up screaming in agony.
Hanifah allegedly confessed to 'aggravated assault' and was taken on a crime reenactment on October 21. She is seen in the video wearing orange while sitting on the back of a motorcycle.
She said: 'I cut my husband's penis because he was cheating on me with other women. He took me for a fool. I tried to arouse him to show he still loved me, but he would not do it.'
Hanifah showed how she browsed through her husband's text messages while he was asleep. She then woke him up to have sex 'to prove he still loved her' but became furious when she was turned down, sparking the horror knife attack.
Despite the blood gushing from his privates, Nugraha managed to drive himself to a nearby clinic, accompanied by Hanifah, who had placed his severed manhood in a plastic bag.
He was then rushed to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, where he stayed in critical condition for 23 days before passing away on August 12.
Hanifah initially said she did not know how the wound had happened, and she was trying to help her partner. However, medics raised concerns with the police.
Officials said the wife was charged under Article 354 of the Criminal Code for aggravated assault, carrying a maximum sentence of nine years.
Adjunct Commissioner Ganda Sibarani, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kebon Jeruk Police, said an investigation was launched after nurses reported the suspected assault.
The police chief said: 'The suspect became enraged after discovering chat messages on her husband's phone and attacked him while he was asleep using a cutter knife.
'The victim was later found with his genitals severed and was treated at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.'
