A bus driver who lost his income during the Covid-19 lockdown converted his vehicle into a mobile noodle restaurant.

Prasert Suksompeuch, 56, had been a driver all his working life for 35 years in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, central Thailand.

However, his troubles began during the pandemic as fewer passengers were using public transport.

The tax and insurance expenses for his private bus - around 40,000 Baht (990GBP) a year - became too much of a burden until he had the idea for a new business venture.

The creative driver turned his bus into a noodle stall, removing the seats to place tables and stools so people can come in and eat his noodles for 25 Baht a bowl (0.62 GBP).

Thong Pongsai, 51, cooks the affordable chicken noodles which they serve all day to customers.

The bus is usually parked in front of Bangkla Temple which opens from 9 a.m. until the end of the day.

Prasert said the idea turned into a great marketing success when visitors started to shared pictures of the unique bus noodle on social media.

He said: "Anyone can come and enjoy our food after they feed the fish in the temple. When we started, I really just want to be able to earn some for my family, but it proved to be a great success."
