Buffalo swept away by floods found sheltering on concrete block
A buffalo that was swept away by floods was found sheltering on a concrete block.
Locals spotted the cow perched atop the platform after a heavy downpour inundated Dak Lak, Vietnam.
Footage shows the horned animal standing still while munching grass. Uprooted trees and scattered leaves surround it.
Soldiers under Division 315 rescued the buffalo on November 25.
Herder Nguyen Xuan Hoi became emotional after learning that his buffalo, stuck on the block for six days, was discovered alive by residents.
He said: 'When I heard that my buffalo was still alive, I was happy to tears because this was the family's property. The whole herd of cows in the house had also died; there was nothing left.'
The animal reportedly did not sustain any injuries in the disaster.
Local media reported that the country has been experiencing severe flash floods due to severe and prolonged rainfall across the South-Central region.
The death toll has tragically risen, with at least 90 people dead and 12 individuals missing across the affected provinces. Over 200,000 houses were flooded, and more than 119,000 individuals were evacuated to safety.
The region suffered massive losses in the agricultural sector, with over 82,000 hectares of rice fields and over 1.7 million head of livestock and poultry lost or damaged.
