Wild elephant raids schoolyard in Thailand and rings the bell with its trunk

This is the terrifying moment a wild elephant raided the grounds of a school in Thailand.

The jumbo emerged from the forest and broke through a fence before wandering past the classrooms on Thursday (March 4).

Shocked teacher Supranee Bunmak watched as the animal moved through the schoolyard, kicking over a motorcycle and chomping on bushes.

At one point (2:04) The elephant even rang the school bell with its trunk.

Supranee said that the male jumbo was later shooed away and returned to nearby forests in Sa Kaeo province.

She said: ‘

The elephant was later identified as a bull named See Daw Kaew who is in his 30s.

Elephants are the national animal of Thailand. An estimated 2,000 elephants are living in the wild and a similar number in captivity.

In the wild, they roam through the deep jungle and in the country’s protected national parks but often encounter humans on roads and in villages. However, they are protected by laws and killing them carries a maximum prison term of up to three years and a fine of 1,000 baht (25GBP).
