A mouse was caught stealing over £5,500 worth of jewellery in a shop in eastern China.

The CCTV video, shot in the city of Zhuji in Zhejiang Province on April 6, shows a mouse running back and forth between a shelf and a table.

The shop owner Ms Zhu followed the mouse's movement and found her lost jewellery in the corner of a wall.

According to reports, Zhu realised five gold necklaces and other accessories were missing from her jewellery shop so she reported to the police.

After police arrived at the shop, they found the lock on the door was not damaged and it had no sign that the objects in the shop have been stolen. So they asked Zhu to check the surveillance camera inside the shop.

After watching the CCTV video repeatedly, Zhu spotted the mouse and found her lost jewellery.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
