Lebanese mobs attacked buses and cars carrying pro-government Syrian expatriates who were heading to the Syrian embassy in Beirut today (May 20) to vote in the presidential election.

According to local reports, the voters were driving in a convoy of cars and buses, waving Syrian flags and blasting songs supportive of President Bashar Assad when a group of Lebanese attacked their vehicles.

Footage showed the mobs pelting voters with rocks and smashing car windows with sticks.

Lebanon has a long history of poor relations with neighbouring Syria.

Syrians abroad vote today (May 20) before the May 26 election inside Syria which Assad is all but certain to win.

The video shows cattered mobs of anti-Syrian Lebanese attacking Syrians heading for presidential vote in Lebanon. They pelted them with rocks and smashed windows with sticks. In one incident near Nahr el-Kalb on the highway north or Beirut, one attacker poked a wooden stick inside the car, poking the driver as others smashed the windshield.
