This footage was filmed and produced 3 July 2021.

Uganda has reimposed a 42-day lockdown as coronavirus infections surge in the East African country. President Yoweri Museveni said in his Friday night address that he was tired of receiving calls about deaths, but critics say he presented a wish list that would instead worsen the situation for Ugandans.

The video shows people raising their concerns about the effect of coronavirus lockdown in Uganda. For example, many businesses were shut down, bars have not been operating since the last year lockdown, some people are going to die of hunger as they can't work durind lockdown, students have not been studying for one and a half years since schools were closed.

Moreover, starvation and hunger are resulting into other diseases and police is taking advantage of the situation collecting money (bribe) from citizens during curfew hours, high crime rates so they are calling out for the government to come to their rescue since it promised could 19 relief funds to the vulnerable people.

Interviews:

My name is Kheem Joker, Speaking about the Lockdown… It has exacerbated the whole situation.
We are generally facing disturbing challenges like transport was banned, our places of work were temporarily ceased. Therefore we have to move Long distances on foot just in case…
We are no longer making money and when illegally work and earn peanuts, the security forces take it all (bribe) ---------------------
And these people are using this as an opportunity to take advantage of the citizens.
They take all the money (collecting bribe) when your day has just begun.
So we only have to be extra careful and vigilant otherwise the country is facing econonmic hardships ever since the last year lockdown. So we have been grappling with a vicious cycle of poverty. Yet we are also sustaining on chicken feed which can only enable us to survive on water and bread (ban) is -----------
You can not run to anyone because we are all suffering the same consequences.
