Taliban supporters were seen roller-skating around a gymnasium at a sports press conference in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Tuesday.

The young men skated around an indoor court while waving the Taliban flag on September 14.

Bashir Ahmad Rustamzai, the Taliban’s director-general for sports and physical education, attended the event in which he confirmed that the Taliban will allow citizens to play 400 sports.

He said: ‘We will not ban any sport, unless it does not comply with Sharia law. There are 400 types of sports allowed.’

The sports chief, however, declined to say if women will be allowed to play.

He said: ‘Please don’t ask more questions about women.’

The future of women’s rights in Afghanistan has come into question following the Taliban takeover on August 15. Human rights advocates fear the return of restrictive and draconian policies enforced by the hardline Islamist group two decades ago.
