An amazing video has emerged of a fight between a barn owl and a kestrel over a nesting site in North Yorkshire, UK.

The footage, captured using a night vision camera placed inside the nest, shows the fierce territorial battle between the two birds late last month.

"I captured an amazing battle between barn owl and kestrel over a nesting site. Who do you think will win?” the filmer later wrote online.

“The barn owl doesn't look very powerful against the clever kestrel, but those long claws are very powerful and have a very long reach. The kestrel is highly agitated but is the barn owl frightened and in shock or is he just playing it cool?"

Despite the ferocity of the showdown, neither bird was seriously harmed.
