Man fends off shark while spearfishing
An amazing video has emerged from Western Australia of a shark attacking a spearfisher’s gun.
The footage, captured on an underwater camera off the coast of Dampier late last month, shows the fisherman spearing a large wahoo fish - prompting a group of sharks to attack the catch.
The man can then be seen attempting to keep the sharks at bay using his speargun, when one shark retaliates by trying to bite the end of the weapon.
Writing online about the experience, the filmer said: "While spearfishing offshore in north western Australia, a wahoo was speared and the sharks tried to eat it. I then fended the sharks of the fish resulting in one of the sharks biting the end of my speargun."
