Ghanaian activists and their allies protested against the proposed 'Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021' law today in London (October 23).
The Bill currently being reviewed in Ghana's parliament will criminalise citizens for identifying - or even 'suspected' as being LGBT+ with family members and neighbours obligated to report individuals suspected to be gay to police. Under this law individuals will be denied services, such as medical appointments and hotel stays.
Allies to the LGBT+ community are also covered by this legislation and are not immune from prosecution if they express sympathy or show support for gay people - even when online.
