At least five people were wounded after a gas explosion destroyed part of a five-storey residential building in the Russian city of Naberezhnye Chelny.
According to preliminary data, at least six apartments in which 14 people lived were destroyed.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the cause of the explosion was a gas leak. At the same time, the emergency services do not exclude that a resident of one of the apartments suffering from alcoholism could provoke a gas leak.

Translation of the interview with an employee of the field kitchen of the Ministry of Emergency Situations:

– [Interviewer] Here the guys are cooking for those who work so that they can refresh themselves here with new forces to eliminate the consequences.
– [Employee] We are fulfilling the task set by the administration of our city. In case of an emergency, we mobilize at any moment in a few hours. We will work until the very end of these events, that is, a few days. Breakfast, lunch and dinner: each dish will be different. Now for breakfast there was buckwheat with stew, for lunch potatoes with meat are being prepared, and for dinner there will be pasta with meat. There is always unlimited hot tea. Any person can come up and warm up with hot tea, pour it into a thermos and go quietly to his service, to his workplace. Including the residents who suffered. They can also come up, we will also feed them. But, fortunately, the city's leadership has already taken care of this, and these people have already been accommodated, fed and there is not a single person here who would need help.
