Police officers in Los Angeles rescued a pilot from a crashed plane
seconds before a train slammed into the aircraft on Sunday (January 9) afternoon.

The single-engine Cessna crashed onto the train tracks at San Fernando and Osborne streets about 2 p.m. local time, according to police.

Officers pulled a bloodied man in his 70s from the cockpit shortly afterwards and seconds before a Metrolink train ploughed into the aircraft.

Footage captured by Jesus Jimenez showed the moment of impact.

"The train's coming," gasps Jimenez in Spanish as he watches the events unfold.

"It's going to crash into the plane," he adds.

After witnessing the crash he says he hopes there was no one inside because they couldn't have survived the impact.
