A famous TikTok chef has shared how to make a homemade Nando’s burger for just £1 – and he insists it tastes better than the real thing.

Bartek, 25, from London, a former bartender, shot to fame on TikTok after learning to cook in lockdown and sharing his unique recipes on the app.

One particularly popular creation was his take on a Nando’s peri-peri chicken burger – which Bartek has recreated at a cost of just £1 per serving, compared to the grilled chicken burger, which costs £9.25 with halloumi.

The recipe calls for roasted peppers, onions, chilli and garlic, which is then blended and mixed with tomato paste.

He then adds lemon juice, more garlic, olive oil, dried chilli and spices to complete the marinade, and marinades the chicken thighs for a minimum of four hours.

The chicken is then grilled alongside halloumi, before the burger is constructed on buns toasted with garlic butter.

Bartek even makes his own Nando’s-style Perinaise – mayonnaise mixed with the marinade to create a spicy taste.

He finishes the burger with lettuce and tomato.

“This was definitely on par with the original with more flavour to the marinade than you get at Nando’s,” Bartek told Jam Press.

“At a fraction of the price, it’s definitely worth a try.

“For a single chicken thigh burger, you’re looking at about £1 per burger [to make this].”

Bartek – who has released a recipe book with HP Custom Content called Let's Munch: The Chronicles – shared a video of himself making the burger with his 640,000 followers on TikTok.

The clip was viewed more than 176,000 times and racked up 17,000 likes and hundreds of comments and shares.

Fans begged Bartek to drop the recipe and even gave the seal of approval for any Nando’s-related food – deeming it “cheeky”.

One person said: “Watching this in bed and my stomach started to rumble, now kinda wanna snack.” [sic]

“Looks banging,” another user added.

Someone else said: “I beg you open your own food place, I'll live there.”

“I beg u open a burger place,” agreed another fan. [sic]

Someone else commented: “This looks penggg omg.” [sic]
