This is the exhilarating moment giant waves hit tourists at a popular lagoon in the Philippines.

Footage shows holidaymakers enjoying the tall waves as they crashed into the rocks and sprayed onto them at the Laswitan Falls and Lagoon in Surigao del Sur province on December 5.

Visitor Maria Lourdes said: 'This is such an awesome place. It's like a waterpark but totally natural. We visited on a tour and loved it there.'

Laswitan is a unique 20ft-rock formation with three natural basins so that when the tide becomes high, the huge waves flow and spill into the main basin on the other side, creating a waterfall effect.
