Two Philippine eagles shared an intimate moment as they were caught 'billing' on CCTV during Valentine's day in the Philippines.

Staff of the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) saw the pair of raptors named Mayumi and Phoenix appearing to nibble on each other's beaks inside their breeding chamber in Davao City.

They said: 'It's their way of kissing where they touch and clasp each other's beaks, which strengthens their bond.'

The foundation paired the two together in 2019 in hopes that they would breed and produce offspring.

The Philippine eagle is endemic to the Philippines and is classified as 'critically endangered' by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Their reproductive rate is quite low, with a mother eagle laying only a single egg every mating season. The parents then care for the hatchling until it is ready to hunt on its own before producing another egg.
