Local authority builds 'bollard obstacle course' in China

A bizarre video has emerged from China of a cluster of bollards erected on a small area of pavement.

In an extreme attempt to curb street hawkers, city officials in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, have erected 66 bollards within a few square metres.

According to local reports, the busy road has been plagued by illegal hawkers and motorbike taxis - but the extreme measure has been creating a headache for pedestrians, particularly those pushing children in strollers.

The new design feature has been compared to "meihuazhuang" - a martial arts obstacle course used in traditional Chinese lion dances and by the monks of the Shaolin Temple.
