A school in the Ukrainian town of Vasilkov near Kyiv was partially destroyed in a presumed Russian military attack on Saturday 26 February.

Video filmed on Monday 28 February showed broken glass and twisted metal covering the ground around School No.3, Taras Shevchenko public school.

It is some of the first footage to emerge of the aftermath of the attack.

The school is located between Vasilkov College of the National Aviation University and a military base. It is thought the attack is likely to have been intended for the base, but missed. The town is reportedly home to one of Ukraine’s four air defence control centres.

A female teacher, Lydmila, showed a classroom wrecked in the attack. The school taught children aged 6 to 16.

A male teacher at the school, Alexsey, held up metal wreckage that he said was part of a rocket used in the attack.

It has not been possible to verify whether a rocket or shell, or how many, were used.

Vasilkov - also spelt Vasylkiv - is approximately 35km (22 miles) south-west of Kyiv. On Saturday night (26 into 27 February) an oil depot in the town was also targeted.
