After Rio, the best Carnival in the world takes place in Barranquilla, Atlantico department, Colombia.

Traditionally beginning on the Saturday before Ash Wednesday, Barranquilla Carnival is Colombia's biggest celebration and one of the biggest carnivals (religious festivals) in the world.

The activities of the city cease to give way to concerts, dances, and the huge parade of masked revellers that can be seen during the four unforgettable days of the Carnival of Barranquilla.

The festivities begin with La Batalla de Flores (the Battle of Flowers), a parade of elaborate floats and continue with days of dancing, costumes, and celebrations.

Due to the pandemic, this annual carnival last happened in 2020. After a 2-year break, it resumed in 2022. Yet it was postponed 1 month due to Covid: instead of taking place at the end February 2022 according to tradition, it took place at the end of March.
