Desperate residents shouted at patrolling officials from their windows to express anger over escalating Covid-19 lockdown restrictions in Shanghai, China

Footage shows neighbours making a barrage of noise from inside their own apartment units to get the attention of passing local officials in Shi Lan San village on April 23.

One desperate woman is heard yelling 'I haven't eaten yet' while another man screams 'I need to eat'.

Locals were reportedly angry over the heightening of the lockdown policy which had so far dragged on its fourth week, resulting in a lack of food supply and confusion.

Shanghai, with a population of 25 million, carries out daily Covid-19 tests and transferring infected residents to quarantine facilities. The government reported 138 Covid-19 related deaths from last week alone.
