Lady mayor Kirsty Edwards runs to help as Gay celebration festival evacuated after Restaurant catches fire. Hundreds evacuated from event square Falmouth

Kirsty Edward the Falmouth deputy mayor was representing the town council at Falmouth,s major gay pride procession and entertainment day. only 90 minutes into the entertainment huge clouds of black smoke swept into Event square were the venue was being held in front of the National Maritime Museum. An evacuation of the square was organised and the event halted. The fire is thought to have originated in a Steak restaurant located in the square. The deputy mayor is captured in mayoral chain and with a large rainbow flag running to the scene to help. Devon and Cornwall Fire and rescue were called from Falmouth and Redruth Camborne. Fire officers donned breathing apparatus and entered the restaurant premises. The evacuated crowds lined the streets outside the danger area.
