A wildfire that lasted from Saturday evening until Sunday morning destroyed around 300 acres of forestland in Umm Qais, Irbid.

The firefighting teams made strenuous efforts in extinguishing the fire, given the nature of the area which is characterised by difficult and rugged terrain, in addition to the difficulty of accessing it due to its mountainous nature.

The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate said that firefighters in the Civil Defense Directorate east of Irbid, with the support of the Civil Defense Directorates of the North, dealt with a fire in Umm Qais, Irbid.

The fire lasted from Saturday evening until Sunday morning and destroyed 1,200 dunams of forestland.
