Muslims protested the screening of a controversial film this evening at the Vue Cinema at Westfield Stratford (June 8).

'The Lady of Heaven' has sparked-off protests in UK cities since its release last weekend, leading to the Cineworld cinema chain to pull further screenings.

The protesters say the inaccurate portayal of several Holy Muslim figures in the film and the depiction of black people as "dirty criminals" has caused offence to some who ask for the film to be removed from showing at the cinema.

Health Secretary Savid Javid commented on the topic saying, 'I am very concerned about the growing cancel culture in this country. There's people out there who think they have a right not to be offended and of course, no-one has that right'.

The demonstrators entered the shopping centre briefly, where they asked to meet with the cinema manager before dispersing with an intention of returning if the film is screened again.
