This is the shocking moment homes were swept away into the sea as coastal erosion caused the ground to collapse in Indonesia.

A bridge, a hotel, a road, and 35 houses were wrecked after harsh waves eroded a portion of the Boulevard Beach in South Sulawesi province on June 15.

Footage shows the residential structures flattened and sunken after the soil beneath them was weathered by rough waters. Another clip shows chunks of a road falling into the sea.

Minsel Franky Wongkar, Regent of South Minahasa, said: 'The abrasion occurred at 2:00 pm (local time). There were no casualties in this incident.

'We immediately followed up and coordinated with relevant agencies, such as Basarnas and other relevant Forkompimda. We urge people not to travel into the affected areas.'

The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency had earlier issued a warning for potential coastal flooding for June 11 to 23, reportedly due to higher tides caused by the full moon.

The National Disaster Management Agency on Thursday, June 16, said a total of 266 people have been evacuated from the waterside area. Authorities have also established a relief centre, a public kitchen, and two posts to facilitate the management of the refugees.

The emergency response is expected to last for two weeks.
