People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) activists dressed as Queen’s Guards covered in fake blood and standing on Union Jacks staged a protest on Westminster Bridge on Monday (July 11) outside Parliament against bear skins in Queen’s Guards’ caps.

Currently, the Ministry of Defense (MOD) uses real bear fur to make the caps, and it takes one bear to make just one cap. PETA helped develop a suitable faux fur alternative, which the MOD has so far refused to use.
