'Mutant' five-legged cow seen roaming pasture in Thailand
This rare 'mutant' cow was seen roaming a pasture with an extra leg sticking out of its back in Thailand.
The rare farm animal was spotted by Huaton Pakkeaw as he was driving along Songkhla province on July 11. Despite its strange condition, the bovine did not appear to have trouble walking normally.
Huaton said: 'I remember being confused when I saw it. I think the cow belongs to one of the villagers in the area.'
The creature is believed to have a genetic disorder called polymelia, a defect caused by improper cell division during conception.
A 2002 study stated that the condition is extremely uncommon among cattle having inflicted only one cattle in every 100,000.
