Droupadi Murmu took oath on Monday as the 15th President of India at a ceremony in Parliament's Central Hall in New Delhi.

Droupadi Murmu on Thursday scripted history by becoming the country’s first tribal President defeating Opposition nominee Yashwant Sinha. Murmu, 64, won by a huge margin against Sinha after receiving over 64 percent valid votes in the counting of ballots of MPs and MLAs, which continued for over 10 hours, to succeed Ram Nath Kovind.

Celebrations started at President-elect Draupadi Murmu's residence on Friday after her victory in the presidential elections. Tribal leaders and community people celebrated the victory of Droupadi Murmu by singing and dancing in traditional tribal attire in her residence in Delhi, the first from the community to reach Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. Folk artists in traditional attires carrying musical instruments from different parts of the country were seen celebrating Murmu's victory at her residence in the national capital.
