This is the heartbreaking moment a grieving mother dog buried her dead puppies in Thailand.

The two-year-old poodle Maggy was found by homeowner Hongsa hiding in a gap under his house in Phayao province on July 31.

When he went to inspect the dog's burrow, he was shocked to discover that her five newborn puppies had died.

He then decided to dig a hole in his backyard to lay the hapless creatures to rest. As he was piling the soil on top of the tiny bodies, Maggy was seen approaching the grave and pawing at the ground.

The bereaved mum could be heard whimpering as she nudged the soil with her nose in a seeming final goodbye to her offspring.

Hongsa said: ‘Maggy looked very sad when we were burying her puppies together next to the house's gate.

‘She stopped going under the house after what happened. We believe the puppies died because it has been raining continuously and the weather was too cold.'
