The record rains that battered the Hokuriku region along the Sea of Japan caused mudslides and widespread flooding.

Torrential rains since yesterday, August 4, have inundated towns and caused mudslides. Authorities expect the weather system to last through Saturday and have warned residents of landslides, flooding in low-lying areas, and swollen rivers.
