Two pet cats alerted their owners when a large venomous centipede entered their home.

CCTV footage shows the fluffy duo stalking the creature and preventing it from crawling up the stairs leading to the family's bedroom in Nonthaburi province, Thailand on May 31.

The cats also hissed at the centipede alerting the mother and her daughter lounging on the sofa.

Upon noticing the threat from the venomous insect, the owner pulled the two pet cats away while the centipede was swept out of the property.

Mother Khan Piang said: 'We were so shocked and scared. We don't know where it came from. It might have been crawling around until the cats found it. We were so grateful for our cats.'

Centipedes have an extremely painful venomous bite that rarely causes health concerns in humans. However, some species have venom that produces a variety of toxins, including chemicals that could trigger allergies and, worse, heart attacks.
