Contestants dress as fruit and vegetables for beauty pageantry contest
Pretty contestants dressed as fruits and vegetables for a beauty pageant in Thailand.
The young hopefuls from across the country's 77 provinces wore the produce-inspired costumes as they took part in the Miss Star Thailand 2022 contest held in Nakhon Ratchasima province this week.
During the pageant's 'Miss Agriculture Ambassador' segment, they showcased their region's main agricultural products - flaunting creative dresses shaped like grapefruit and mushrooms.
Contestant Chanaporn Chamchuen, known by her nickname Nong Moo-Ham, was crowned Miss Agricultural Ambassador and won a prize of 10,000 Baht (281 USD). Her costume was based on Chiang Rai province's reishi mushrooms, which local housewives process and sell to generate income for the local communities.
Meanwhile, judges conferred the coveted Miss Star 2022 title to Petchampai or Nong-Ping from Chaiyaphum province. She won a sash, a crown, and the grand prize of 100,000 Baht (2,809 USD).
Petchampai was followed by first runner-up Natcha Phromsut or Nong-Ice from Songkhla province, and second runner-up Nuanla-ong Donsua or Nong-Poon from Bangkok.
