A plane has landed safely in Mississippi after its pilot threatened to crash it into a Walmart store in Tupelo on Saturday 3 September.

An arrest was made after the plane, believed to have been stolen, came down near Ashland.

That was nearly five hours after police were called about a pilot threatening to deliberately crash an aircraft.

The filmer said: "I was up this morning at 5am drinking coffee in my home. A plane was repeatedly flying over our neighborhood so I stepped outside to see."

"It was flying circles over our town, which never happens, so I recorded the film thinking something is not right. Fifteen minutes later I received a phone call telling me it was a stolen plane and the pilot had threatened to crash it into a Walmart store a mile from my home," he added.
