West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was found with stab injuries in Handsworth Wood just after 11pm last night (21 Oct).

Ambulance colleagues battled to save the 29-year-old, but he sadly died at the scene in Washington Drive in Birmingham.

Tow blue forensics tents could be seen next to the property that was surrounded by police crime scene tape.

Officers have a cordon in place while forensic investigations are carried out and are conducting house to house enquiries. Extra officers will be in the area on patrol over the next few days.

Detective Inspector Jim Mahon, from WMP's homicide unit, said: “We are in the very early stages of our enquiry and we are asking anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken to us to come forward.

“The victim’s family have been informed and we have specialist family liaison officers with them after hearing just devastating news.”
