Meet the money educator teaching people how to maximise their income and save this winter - who claims you should 'pay yourself first' and invest in an 'emergency fund'. Anna Brading, 37, was fed up with living pay cheque to pay cheque and wanted to find alternative ways to bring in money as a stay-at-home mum. She and her husband, Simon, 36, a pastor, were both highly educated with maths degrees but found themselves without financial security and stuck at an income ceiling in an expensive city. Anna claims they were 'skint' at the end of the month - particularly when she became a stay-at-home mum. At a loose end, she picked up a book about financial literacy and immediately became inspired to find alternate streams of income - she founded an ethical t-shirt printing business with just £500. In November 2020 she started sharing videos on social media about all she had learned and soon had 134k followers. Anna gained accreditation as a financial educator in January 2022 and reveals the top five things everyone must do to become more financially positive. She suggests setting a 'you-shaped' budget, having a bank account with separate pots of bills, socialising and spending, building an emergency fund, exploring ways to bring in money through side hustles and "paying yourself first". Mum-of-three Anna, from Brighton, East Sussex, said: "You don't have to work 25 hours a day, you just need to get creative. "Financial stuff can be dull and daunting but I'm trying to make it fun. "I had a light-bulb moment and realised there's a whole world of stuff we didn't get taught at school about side hustles, business and investment. "It's frustrating in your thirties when you're stuck in a pay-cheque to pay-cheque cycle with no clue how to get unstuck."
