A Muay Thai boxer smashed a punch bag game to see if he could beat the top score.

Footage shows Buakaw Banchamek striking the ball as hard as he could in a bid to break the record on the device at a shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand, on January 11.

However, the professional athlete - widely regarded as the best in the notoriosuly fierce sport - only scored 5,560 which is far lower than the record 7, 619.

He had two more tries but Buakaw failed to outpower the machine on both attempts.

Onlooker Jitthin Chankwang said: ‘Everyone was excited to see how the boxer would do in the punching game. We were all curious how many points he could get and if he could break the record.'

Buakaw is regarded as one of the best Muay Thai boxers and won several titles in different tournaments. He also starred in a movie in 2010, debuting his acting career.
