A hapless pet cat regretted trying to reach a family's pet birds - after getting stuck in the most awkward of positions.

The feline sensed an easy meal when she tried to climb into a neighbour's house where the parrots were twittering away but failed miserably as the holes in the window were too small for her body.

Footage shows the fluffy white moggy looking like a trapped contortionist on the swirly steel bars of the home in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand on January 16.

The resident said: ‘We didn't have a cat but I heard a meowing coming from our living room. I was confused why there was a cat inside. I went to look and saw it crying for help.'

The house owner added that many cats have tried to enter their home before because they had pet birds.

She said: ‘Maybe they wanted to eat our birds. We find a lot of traces of cars around the yard.'

The cat was then freed from the window and ran out of the property to retreat to safer territory.
