Watford General Hospital in England has evacuated some of its patients and staff members due to a chemical spill in the maternity unit.

Herts Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the hospital after receiving the first emergency call at 10.35 am on January 26.

Firefighters have been deployed to the site for a clean-up and possible decontamination operation.

reports of a small explosion around 11am 26th January 2023 due to the accidental mixing of cleaning fluids.

Four fire engines and a decontamination unit were sent after the fumes reportedly "caused some problems for staff" taken to the Accident and Emergency unit and the immediate area was evacuated.
